Romanian International University Fair

Pepperdine University from Los Angeles, United States, has attended the Romanian International University Fair (RIUF) for the eighth time in a raw. All the schools from Pepperdine were showcased (Seaver College, School of Public Policy, School of Business, School of Law, and School of Education and Psychology), and 27 prospective students were recommended for graduate and undergraduate studies. Besides the scholarships offered by each school individually, the Romanian students may apply for additional funding at Dinu Patriciu Foundation, which offers scholarships of up to USD 15,000 through the Open Horizons Program. Also, students may apply to the Fulbright scholarships.

The event was organized by EDUCATIVA, which is a group of educational companies and NGOs, working together to promote projects, products and services that help young Romanians to identify and make the best use of personal development opportunities.

Pepperdine University

Pepperdine University from Malibu, CA, United States, will attend the Romanian International University Fair (RIUF) for the eighth time. RIUF is the largest international education event in Romania and in Eastern Europe counting over 15,000 visitors interested in study-abroad programs and almost 200 individual exhibitors over the 7 editions so far. The list of exhibitors is impressive, so the visitors will most likely find the suitable programs of study to fulfill their professional ambitions.

Pepperdine University offers graduate and undergraduate programs in its main Malibu campus and in other places in the U.S. and abroad. As a Master of Public Policy Alum, I am going to offer information and counseling regarding the admission process, life on campus, professors, staff, classes, life in the Los Angeles area, scholarship opportunities, and career development. The prospective students who will show great interest in submitting applications, will benefit from an increased supervision and counseling from the Pepperdine graduates in Romania, when working on their application documents.

RIUF is taking place at Sala Palatului, during March 12-13 (Bucharest). We will be there!

How can you make a good application to be admitted with scholarship into an MBA or another Master’s or Doctoral program in the US? This is the beautiful yet difficult question I am going to offer answers and advice to the prospective students, on the mentorship platform GOmentorship.ro. This online resource is bringing the mentors closer to the young people of Romania. The conferences and the mentorship activities offered on the platform are stimulating the non-formal education and the professional networking, creating stronger links between school and the professional career of young people.

My advice and feedback will be filtered through my practical application experience, as I was admitted to study at Georgetown University, New York University, Pepperdine University, and Monterey Institute of International Studies. Pepperdine University at RIUF's 7th Edition, Fall 2010

Pepperdine University has attended the 7th edition of the Romanian International University Fair (RIUF), the largest international educational event in Romania and in Eastern Europe. This time, the university presented its main educational programs:

• The Master of Public Policy Program with concentrations in Economics, International Relations, American Politics,  and State and Local Policy
• The Master of Business Administration
• The Master of Law
• The Masters in Education and Psychology
• The undergraduate studies from Seaver College, with over 50 majors and minors

Approximately 7000 young people attended the event during the two days of the fair. My colleague and I interacted with almost 500 students and recommended 52 of them to initiate the admission’s process to the appropriate school from Pepperdine. Mass-media showed great interest in the RIUF experience. TVR, Realitatea TV, ProTV, Antena3, and Cancan made interviews and articles. The one from Cancan is particularly interesting . I congratulate the organizers and specifically thank Alexandru Ghita (President of Educativa), Mike Costache (Pepperdine Alumn), Jeannette Cimanga (volunteer at the Pepperdine stand and prospective student), and Pepperdine University.

Pepperdine University was present for the sixth year at the Romanian International University Fair (RIUF). With this occasion, Mike Costache (Economics Major 1999 & Certificate in Dispute Resolution 2003) and I (Master of Public Policy 2008), volunteered our weekend to recruit the next generation of Romanian Pepperdiners.

We presented all of Pepperdine’s Programs through video clips, banners, brochures, and props to bring the flavor of sunny Malibu in a cold, snowy Bucharest.

We are proud to be the only American university to have attended all RIUF’s editions since its inception in 2005. RIUF helped recruit seven Romanians to Pepperdine’s undergraduate and graduate programs  (five with scholarships and two with own resources).

Looking forward towards next RIUF in November, 2010!

Pepperdine University at the Romanian International University Fair 2010

Pepperdine University will attend the Romanian International University Fair (RIUF) 2010 in Bucharest, during March 13-14. RIUF is the largest and most reputable international education event in Romania and in Eastern Europe counting over 15,000 visitors interested in study abroad programs and almost 200 individual exhibitors over the 5 editions so far.

I will be promoting Pepperdine’s School of Public Policy, answering questions about the Master of Public Policy Program with its four concentrations, the life on campus, the internship opportunities, the life in Malibu and Los Angeles area, international students, faculty and staff, extracurricular activities, and costs. Also, prospective students will be able to enlist in a database and I will put them in contact with the Admissions Office from the School of Public Policy.

Middlebury College, Stanford University, Yale University and Pepperdine University are attending RIUF 2010, from the United States.

Mike Costache, another Pepperdine alumnus, will be promoting Seaver College and Graziadio School of Business and Management. Mike is attending RIUF for the fifth time and has helped seven Romanian students study in Malibu.
